Message from the President of the Education for CWD Foundation

Dear Friends,

LIFE WITHOUT DIABETES! Wouldn't that be wonderful? Until that day is upon us, we need to give our children and families the tools they need to manage their diabetes. We, at the Education for Children with Diabetes Foundation, believe the best way for that to happen is through education.

Through the generosity of our supporters, we are able to carry out our mission. Over the past three years we have been able to grant almost 40 scholarships for families to attend the Children with Diabetes Friends for Life Conference. It is at this conference that families are able to not only increase their knowledge of diabetes management, receive up to date research information but also build a lifelong diabetes network. Here are just a few responses from past recipients: "This was a life changing event for us," "words cannot express what the conference did for my child," "an invaluable memorable event," "we feel like we are part of a new family."

Our vision for the future is to focus on providing our children and families with opportunities to acquire information that will assist them in living with diabetes. This year we have expanded our Friends for Life conference scholarships to include a separate young adult scholarship (ages 18 - 24), Friends for Life conference scholarships for Canadian residents, funding regional conference scholarships and have implemented a college scholarship program for students with diabetes.
